Virtues Playshop for Children and Parents
Presented
by the Brilliant Star Staff: Hoda Movagh, Senior Editor; C. Aaron
Kreader, Graphic Designer; Susan Engle, Associate Editor; Amy Renshaw,
Activities Editor
Summary: This workshop gave parents
and children the opportunity to deepen parent-child bonds by acknowledging
the virtues practiced in their daily lives. Upon entering the workshop,
families were photographed with a Polaroid camera and invited to use
the photograph to create a poster listing their virtues, such as love,
joyfulness, honesty, and kindness. They were then supplied with a wide
variety of art materials and invited to create gifts for each other
that expressed appreciation for those virtues. Key
Points Presented:
It is important for parents and
children to express their creativity and play together in a relaxed,
informal manner.
Acknowledging the virtues practiced
by children and parents can deepen the love and unity within a family.
Parents and children can lovingly
express their appreciation for each other through simple and thoughtful
homemade gifts.
