In-depth Study of the Baháí Faith: The Approach of the Wilmette
Institute
by Robert H. Stockman
Overview
This workshop was for anyone interested in taking a course on the Baháí
Faith via the internet or anyone thinking that the internet could be
a useful supplement to existing local and regional training institute
courses.
Outline
1. The vast majority of Baháís
now have access to the internet and worldwide web, and those who do
not can obtain access through public libraries and (ideally) Baháí
Centers.
2. The internet can overcome two
problems local Baháí classes face: not enough people are available
for a particular class, and not everyone interested is available at
the same time. Discussion of a subject over the internet can sometimes
substitute for a local class, but even better, it can supplement the
class, allowing a few hours of face-to-face contact to cover more material.
3. The Wilmette Institute, Yerrinbool
Academy (Australia) and other centers are emerging as sources for courses
on specific Baháí books and topics. They often can provide curricular
materials to their students for use in local classes for free or inexpensively.
